Heiner Kubny, Chief editor
Heiner Kubny has been dedicated to polar topics for more than thirty years. As a photographer, he travelled to Antarctica several times each year and, a few years later, discovered his passion for the Arctic as well. With their german multimedia show “Im Reich der Pinguine,” Heiner and Rosamaria Kubny inspired thousands of nature enthusiasts. Through the publication of PolarNEWS magazine and the organization of expeditions to the “refrigerators of our planet,” they opened up new dimensions of polar-focused journalism and travel.
Rosamaria Kubny, Managing Director
Always at Heiner’s side, Rosamaria Kubny joined numerous expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic.
In Antarctica, she was particularly moved by the profound silence — and, of course, by the charming penguins.
The Arctic offered a completely different experience: she was fascinated not only by the polar bears but also by the vivid and colorful landscapes.
Encounters with local communities and their everyday challenges gave her new perspectives on life in remote regions.
Her many journeys northward have also made her witness to the visible impacts of climate change. She takes a keen interest in the political dynamics of the north polar region.
Marcel Schütz, Editorial & IT
Entrepreneur and Honorary Consul of Switzerland in Svalbard, Marcel Schütz has lived and worked in the Arctic for many years.
With his own local arctic-company, he organizes expeditions for scientists, photographers, and explorers, sharing the fascination of this extraordinary region.
Through his long-standing experience and commitment, he helps make the High North accessible in a responsible way.
As the newest member of the team, he will bring the magic of both polar regions directly into people’s homes and capture the events of the Arctic and Antarctic through compelling storytelling.
Julia Hager, Freelance collaborator
Julia Hager's passion for the polar regions and seafaring started early: while studying marine biology in 2005, she took part in scientific shipboard expedition to Antarctica, the Berinf Sea, the North Pacific and the North Atlantic. During her two-year stay in Oregon, she encountered the ubiquitous plastic pollution on the beaches and her love of marine life was shocked by the sight of animals injured by plastic. This global environmental issue has been on her mind for ten years and she shares her experinece and knowledge of plastic pollution with people of all ages, including polar travellers in her role as a tour guide.
